Nathalia Secondary College is one of more than 30 schools across Northeast Victoria to now benefit from a modern, user-friendly and simple phone system provided by Next Tech Group, Shepparton.
Nathalia Secondary College is a regional school serving students and families in Nathalia and the surrounding community. With reliable communication playing an important role in the day-to-day running of the school, the College needed a phone system that was easy for staff to use, simple to manage and capable of supporting a busy education environment.
The School’s principal Daniel Robinson came to the school, he inherited not only a system that was outdated, but they had multiple suppliers for internet and phone lines and the system itself was too old to expand.
“It was not very streamlined, there were multiple companies we had to deal with it became quite complicated to get things happening, the system wasn’t able to support more phones so that created issues.”
Daniel Robinson - Principal
We already supported the school with CCTV and interactive screens and were approached to see if we could further assist with improving communications. We recommended and implemented a 3CX cloud-based phone system to streamline communication across the school. The solution expanded phone access across multiple offices and introduced a mobile app, enabling staff to make and receive calls using the school’s official number instead of personal mobile numbers.
3CX is a flexible phone system that delivers unified communications – voice, video, chat, and contact centre features – from a single, easy-to-manage platform.
A cloud-based phone system is a communication system that routes calls and manages phone features over the internet rather than on physical, on-site hardware.
The new system delivered a major improvement in communication and efficiency across the school. The mobile app also improved professionalism and privacy for staff when contacting families.
“It’s better that it can all be going out on the school line, not using our own personal numbers. If I’m in a conference and need to ring a parent, I can do that and stay professional.”
Mr Robinson also praised Next Tech Group’s ongoing support and collaborative approach.
“The team has always been open to finding solutions, we’re really small but we’ve never been treated that way.”
